United made it a record 11 Premier League clean sheets
as they thrashed West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Berbatov scored after 22 minutes,
Carlos Tevez tapped in seconds before the break
and Nemanja Vidic headed home a third on the hour.
Ronaldo then struck twice in eight minutes to seal United’s win.
It gave United a three-point lead ahead of Liverpool in the title race,
with the added bonus of topping up their goal difference in style.

Dimitar Berbatov knocked his former club Tottenham out of the FA Cup
by scoring the winner at Old Trafford.
Roman Pavlyuchenko’s header from Tom Huddlestone’s cross put Spurs ahead,
Carlos Tevez was twice denied, first by Ben Alnwick’s excellent save
and later by the crossbar,before Paul Scholes equalised with a low, deflected shot.
Berbatov rifled in after latching on to Michael Carrick’s superb lofted pass
to seal United’s place in the fifth round.
Berbatov’s late winner sent the champions to the top of the Premier League table
for the first time this season.
Berbatov headed home from close range in the 90th minute
just as the game was heading towards a draw.
United’s win saw them equal Chelsea’s record, set in 2004-05,
of 10 consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League,
as they bid for a third consecutive title.
United turned up the heat on Premier League leaders Liverpool
as they closed the gap at the top of the table
with a convincing win against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney then turned in Patrice Evra’s cross after 63 minutes
Berbatov rounded off the win by grabbing the third from close range
turning in Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kick
Sir Alex Ferguson will regard the victory as the perfect response
to public taunts from Liverpool counterpart Benitez that United may be
“a little bit scared” at the sight of their great rivals at the Premier League summit.
