Climate Change – Public Opinion Changing?

Sun 07th February 2010 by tkey Leave a Comment

The number of British people who are sceptical about climate change is rising,
a poll for BBC News suggests.

During the intervening period between the two polls,
there was a series of high profile climate-related stories,
some of which made grim reading for climate scientists and policymakers.

In November, the contents of emails stolen from a leading climate science unit
led to accusations that a number of researchers had manipulated data.

And in January, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
admitted that it had made a mistake in asserting that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035.

Man United potential takeover?

Sat 30th January 2010 by tkey Leave a Comment

Has the time has come for supporters to buy the club back from the Glazer family?
Financier Keith Harris has been approached by investors to broker a takeover of Manchester United.

Manchester United’s Supporters’ Trust has held meetings with influential club supporters
interested in exploring the options for a change of ownership.

Harris, the head of merchant bank Seymour Pierce, has been involved in four Premier League club takeovers
and has long been critical of United’s debt that earlier in January was recorded at £716m.

“You sense that the momentum is gathering and this time these fans truly mean it,
I think they are saying that enough is enough,
there is too much gearing on this football club and it is unhealthy.”

Harris told BBC Sport.

PlayStation 3 – hacked?

Tue 26th January 2010 by tkey 2 Comments

George Hotz (famous for unlocking Apple’s iPhone as a teenager
now claims he has hacked Sony’s PlayStation 3 (PS3).

The PS3 is the only games console that has not been hacked, despite being on the market for three years.

He is not yet ready to reveal the full details of the hack but said that it was “5% hardware and 95% software”.

In addition, he said, the hack would allow people to play older PS2 games on their consoles.

Recent versions of the PS3 do not have the ability to play PS2 games after Sony controversially removed a piece of hardware.

I love my PS3 its a stunning machine, but the games are too expensive. (£50! your having a laugh)

Time to stock up on blanks and hunt for the Blockbuster membership card again.
