Man United 3 Celtic 0
Manchester United ran out comfortable winners
of their UEFA Champions Leage match with Celtic
thanks to a Dimitar Berbatov brace.
The Bulgarian netted poacher’s strikes either side of half-time
with Wayne Rooney adding the gloss late on
to give the holders a 3-0 win.
Both Berbatov’s goals looked suspiciously offside
but the English champions still fully deserved their win
against a Celtic outfit lacking injured strikers Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink,
Georgios Samaras and Chris Killen.
But any debate was ended with a trademark Rooney strike on 75 minutes
to leave United sitting top of Group E with seven points.
About Those Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Rumors?
Terry Rossio, co-screenwriter of the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” films,
has debunked the various rumors that are going around
about Pirates of the Caribbean 4.
They ranged from Johnny Depp getting $56 million for the fourth movie
to Tim Burton directing to Sacha Baron Cohen and Russell Brand co-starring.
Rossio writes:
For the record, none of the recent Pirates 4 rumors have any truth,
including the so-called record 50 million dollar payday for Depp.
Some pretty funny stuff, though. Sacha Cohen? Tim Burton?
Studios are way too protective of their franchises for that sort of thing.
The only thing that has been officially announced so far
is that Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth film.
Pirates Plunder the DVD Sales Charts
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
turned out the biggest sales performance of the three sequels
that stormed the box office during the summer, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The third installment in the Disney franchise
easily topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert DVD sales chart
in its first week in stores, selling more than twice as many copies
as Spider-Man 3 and significantly more DVDs than Shrek the Third
in their respective first weeks.
Tevez still wants United deal
Carlos Tevez is eager for Manchester United to quickly reach a permanent deal
as he looks to be reunited with Wayne Rooney in attack.
The Argentine attacker is currently on a two-year loan deal at Old Trafford,
which expires at the end of the season.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted over the weekend
that he is ‘quite confident’ the champions will conclude a permanent deal for Tevez.
Reports have suggested Real Madrid have shown an interest in Tevez,
but the player is keen to stay with United for the long term.
“All I’d like is that my rights are bought completely by the club
and that my family and I can be sure we are here for years to come,”
Tevez told The Sun.
Ronaldo tipped for double gong
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Cristiano Ronaldo will win the coveted World and European Player of the Year awards this season.
The Manchester United superstar has been in sensational form over the past year, although ankle surgery over the summer meant he missed the start of the 2008/09 Premier League campaign.
AC Milan ace Kaka claimed the double award for 2007 with Ronaldo finishing third in the battle for the World crown and second in the European race.
However, Ferguson for one would be surprised if Ronaldo fails to emulate Kaka’s success of last year and should the 23-year-old miss out he would look into signing the player that pips his prized asset to the gongs.

Doomed Moon of Mars
Mars, named for the Roman god of war, has two tiny moons–Phobos and Deimos–whose names are derived from the Greek for fear and panic.
These Martian moons may well be captured asteroids originating in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter or perhaps from even more distant reaches of the solar system.
Berba – We’re working on it
Dimitar Berbatov is pleased with the way his and Wayne Rooney’s strike partnership is developing.
The duo were both on target in Saturday’s 4-0 Premier League triumph over West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
Rooney has been in emphatic form of late and summer signing Berbatov is hopeful the pair will continue to cause problems for backlines in the games to come.
“Our partnership is progressing well,” said the Bulgaria international.
“You can see it on the pitch. We have been working in training to try and understand each other and it is working. The result was really good.”
