It was first recorded by Richard Chamberlain and released as a single in 1963

In 1970, it was released by the Carpenters, and became their breakthrough hit

This song can also be heard in the film There’s Something About Mary
it also appears in two episodes of The Simpsons.

Singer Simon Le Bon, briefly found himself in real difficulty
when the windmill stopped with his head underwater.
He was given a tube to breathe through and was not in any real danger,
but the British tabloids had a field day exaggerating Le Bon’s “near death experience”.

“The Wild Boys” was named best British Video at the 1985 Brit Awards.
