I have possibly just watched the best Manchester Derby ever!
Michael Owen’s winner 6 mins into injury time gave United a dramatic but well deserved victory.
Owen, on as a substitute for Berbatov,
pounced onto a fantasic pass from Ryan Giggs in trademark fashion,
to beat City’s brilliant goalkeeper Shay Given
and provoke hugely contrasting emotions from the managers.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson set off on an impromptu wild dance along the touchline –
while City counterpart Mark Hughes immediately demanded to know how the decisive
moment of a thrilling game could come almost six minutes into four minutes of stoppage time.
I too joined with fergie in a jig and for once i am looking forward to work tomorrow!
All together now…. “who the f*** are Man Uniiiiiiiiiiiiiited?!!”
there have been 151 competitive meetings between the teams.
United have won 61 and City 41,
the remaining 49 games finishing as draws.
The biggest victory was 6–1 to City on 23 January 1926.
Both teams have won 5–0 once (City in 1955, United in 1994).
The largest attendance for a Manchester derby was 78,000
on 20 September 1947.
How To Be Speakin’ Pirate-Like
Startin’ Rules
* Double up on all your adjectives and you’ll be bountifully bombastic with your phrasing.
Pirates never speak of “a big ship”, they call it a “great, grand ship!”
They never say never, they say “No nay ne’er!”
* Drop all your “g”‘s when you speak and you’ll get words like “rowin'”, “sailin'” and “fightin'”.
Dropping all of your “v”‘s will get you words like “ne’er”, “e’er” and “o’er”.
* Instead of saying “I am”, sailors say, “I be”. Instead of saying “You are”, sailors say, “You be”.
Instead of saying, “They are”, sailors say, “They be”. Ne’er speak in anythin’ but the present tense!
basically all you have to do is say “arrr†a lot.
