THE PEOPLE have spoken –
and Greater Manchester will NOT be getting a congestion charge.
Voters have overwhelmingly rejected the scheme
by a majority of almost four to one in a region-wide referendum.
IN Stockport – where council leaders expressed strong opposition to the plans –
there was a massive turnout.
The borough saw just 24,090 voted in favour of the proposals,
with an overwhelming 103,706 against.
Stockport:
Yes=19%
No =81%
