CSL Sofas/Furniture – Do Not Use

Csl are a high street furniture store selling Sofas.
And in My opinion they do it badly,very badly.
We ordered two 2 seat leather recliner sofa’s in February 2004 ,
it was delivered faulty at the end of July 2004
The problems were with one of the , 2 seaters,
The recliners rubbed together,the stickers on the mechanism were scuffed and torn
where metal was rubbing against metal,
the sofa would not sit on all 4 legs at the same time.
In my opinion this was not a new sofa,but looked like a highly polished ex-demo,
it was just too well worn to be new. for this i paid £1800
The worst ‘oh my god’ moment
was when we eventually got a repair man to attend
to repair a brand new suite, which had been scuffed in numerous places coming through the door.
This man painted my suite with non-matching brown and thought it was acceptable!!
This even though i had the insurance to replace the entire leather of my suite if necesssary
We had to wait till March 2005 for a replacement.
When it arrived it was a farce,
the driver of the van refused to take the old suite away !
He was not aware it was a replacement he was delivering.
It is the worst retail experience we have EVER had,
we were lied to every time we rang the company
“yes sir it will be delivered next week”
2 weeks later…”i dont know who told you that sir it isn’t even in the country yet”
some days later… “it is at your local branch now sir for delivery this week”
2 weeks later…”if you would like to come to the store and select another suite”
………..select another suite !!!
i have wasted months already why should i have to re-order?
When we went back to the store (around June 2004) Csl were having a sale ,
the suite we ordered was now 50% off …or was it? .
It was strange that it was exactly the same price we had ordered it for
and not in a sale back in February!!
We noticed on a number of suites they had simply juggled the figures
to make them appear cheaper.
And yet were the same prices some months ago.
This surely is 1 for trading standards.
I could go on and on about the total lack of professionalism shown by this company.
but by now i think i have made my point.
This web site has a comment facility and i read with horror some of the stories that are being told.
these comments are genuine and not made up by myself out of “frustration”
The Managing Director of CSL himself has left his comment on this site,
speaking to only a ‘handful of people’
but yet still trying to justify his company’s style of operation,
which has left a bad taste in the mouths of those who dare to complain.
As we live in a democrocy in the U.K it is your god given right to choose.
I strongly advise you not to buy anything from CSL
and quite a few who have contacted me will never use them again.
